Based on his experience as President Barack Obama's Science Advisor through both terms, John Holdren discusses how priorities and policies for science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) have been developed under Obama; how specific challenges and opportunities relating to ST&I for economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and national security have been approached; and the role that partnerships across the public, private, academic, and civil-society sectors and across nations have played and must continue to play. Holdren is the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
