Strike

1/1/1961; 82 minutes

The workers in a Russian factory go on strike when one of their coworkers commits suicide. In a typical hat-wave to the awful conditions of Russian factories in this early period, and like the other russian-factory striek film "Mother", this film ends on a tragic note and is more a call about injustice than anything else.

(USSR, 1925, B&W, 82 min, dir. Sergei M. Eisenstein, with Maksim Shtraukh, Grigori Aleksandrov and Mikhail Gomorov)
(#12604)
