This Saturday: A COMEDY TONIGHT

Long before the dawn of the dreaded "romcom" the classic Hollywood comedies of the 1930s often used the battle of the sexes and/or the classes as their backdrop, and were characterized by witty, rapid-fire badinage, absurdist plots, visual puns and sight gags, overt sexism, and wildly overconfident (or just plain pompous) characters. Tonight's program highlights some of the best frothy entertainment from that (allegedly) more innocent era.
