This Saturday: A COMEDY TONIGHT

Hollywood’s mythic Golden Age started with the first “talkies" in 1927 and lasted until roughly the late 1950's, when small independent films began to make inroads and television’s increasing popularity changed society's entertainment habits. The studio-dominated Golden Age incorporated the glamour, style, sex-appeal, talent, and sheer razzmatazz of an era which produced many of the greatest films, directors, and stars ever to grace the screen. Comedies were a particular audience favorite in that era before big-budget studio blockbusters intended to compete with television became the norm.
