2009 Emmy Awards for UCSD-TV

UCSD-TV Takes Home an Emmy!

UCSD-TV added another Emmy Award to its trophy case — this time for “La Jolla Symphony & Chorus: Philip Glass’ Cello Concerto,” which won in the Entertainment Program or Special category. UCSD-TV’s Arts and Humanities producer John Menier accepted the award — his fifth career Emmy win and UCSD-TV’s thirteenth — at the June 13 ceremony in downtown San Diego.

The team behind the award-winning program gathers round the prize:
(from left to right) UCSD Arts Library recording engineer Dave Kesner,
UCSD-TV’s Marci Bretts, Alan Thwaites, John Menier, and Matt Alioto,
with La Jolla Symphony’s Diane Salisbury.

“The Devil’s Breath: Border Crossers Caught in San Diego’s Wildfires” was also nominated in the Documentary – Topical category.
