Love and Murder

Where the Wild Roses Grow

The story of two delusional lovers--each imagining they are embarking on the great journey of romantic love. One is a (would-be?) serial killer who thinks he is doing his victim the favor of preventing the inevitable decline of beauty by ending her life at the height of her flowering. The other is a serial victim whose need to be loved is so strong she willingly refuses to see sickness behind his pretty words. Scenes alternate between their delusional settings (an outdoor ampitheatre and a lush forest glen) and their real existence in the ugliest of city settings (an urban rooftop). We see that they romanticize their actions and settings while, in reality, they are groveling in the gutter. He has no understanding that he is not doing a good deed. She, even in death, can't understand what went wrong.
